Waverly Blankets and Plastics Mr Aron Vico has been acquitted of fraud charges which two aunts, Amanda Berkowitz and Belynda Halfon had accused him of, over the ownership of the company.
Harare regional magistrate Taurai Manuwere upheld an application for exception and acquitted Vico of the fraud charges which his aunts had leveled against him. The magistrate agreed that the facts did not show Vico had committed any offence.
The complainants are his two aunts, Amanda Berkowitz and Belynda Halfon who had roped in a private prosecutor Charles Warara into the trial then later changed to Tendai Biti’s law firm.
The aunts were accusing him of fraudulently assuming ownership of Waverley plastics. They had approached the court seeking to set aside the allotment of shares that gave Vico power to take over Waverley.
Vico denied allegations and filed his application for exception through his lawyer Admire Rubaya , saying the charges he was facing did not disclose an offence.
The magistrate Manuwere agreed and ruled in favor of Vico, finding no offence and Vico was found not guilty.
