City of Kadoma Ward 15 councillor, Nigel Ruzario has been elected the new mayor of the city and will be deputised by Ward 8 councillor, Michael Mvula.
Cllr Ruzario who is not new to City of Kadoma has been with the council between 2018-2023 before being recalled by the MDC T, but bounced back under the Citizend Coalition For Change ticket.
In his acceptance speech just after being conferred with the mayorship status,Cllr Rozario called on all councillors and City of Kadoma staff to work hard so as to achieve the city’s vision of being a smart sanctuary by 2030.
“It will be required to all councillors and City of Kadoma officials to work hard if we’re to achieve the city’s vision of being a smart sanctuary by 2030. To achieve this we must change the image and culture of the institution,” Ruzario said.
“Kadoma can no longer afford to have dirty streets, unmaintained cemeteries and unattended complaints on water and sewage. My council is going to pay special attention to availability of water, roads, maintenance and clearing of the storm water drainage system and to have partnerships with all stakeholders to establish sustainable forums of engagements.
“For sound good governance we aim to stem out corruption and expansion of new settlements will be established as the city is growing very fast,” the Mayor said.
The new City of Kadoma Council has 17 direct elected councillors and five women selected through the women quota.
