Sekuru Honde Appears In Court for David Livingstone Kidnapping Saga

Over the weekend, a driver ‘sekuru Samuel Honde’ who is accused of kidnapping 25 pupils from David Livingstone Primary School in Harare and transporting them to Macheke instead of Kuwadzana showed up in court.

sekuru Samuel Honde, 60, came before Mrs. Letwin Rwodzi, the Harare magistrate, accusing him of abduction.

State was directed to have Honde’s mental health evaluated, and he was placed on remand until February 2.

It is said that since 2016, the parents of the abducted children have hired sekuru Honde to transport their children from their various Greater Harare residences to David Livingstone School.

Additionally, it is claimed that on January 18, at around 1:00 PM, sekuru Honde drove a white Nissan Caravan minibus to pick up twenty-five students from the school.

Instead of taking them home to Kuwadzana Extension and other surrounding areas, he drove east along the Harare-Mutare Road without the children’s or the parents’ consent.

On arrival at the 103km peg in Macheke, the vehicle ran out of fuel and Honde was forced to park it.

A passer-by informed ZRP Macheke that there was a vehicle with children on board and that he suspected foul play since some of them were crying.
