Mnangagwa Beaten by Drug Dealer in Harare’s Avenues Area

Tongai Mnangagwa, the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry and President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s nephew, was beaten by a suspected drug dealer in Harare’s Avenues area on Tuesday night.

Tongai Mnangagwa was assaulted following a misunderstanding over parking space outside Trud Mansions, an apartment block situated at the corner of 6th Street and Fife Avenue in Harare.

Parking Dispute Turns Violent Outside Trud Mansions

Mnangagwa and his entourage had parked their convoy of vehicles there while attending a birthday party at the apartment block. As the festivities wound down, Mnangagwa returned to his parked vehicles only to encounter Antony Mwedziwendira, who was furious about his cars being blocked in by the Deputy Minister’s convoy.

In a fit of anger, Mwedziwendira approached Tongai Mnangagwa and physically assaulted him with open hands. When the Deputy Minister’s aides intervened, Mwedziwendira also assaulted one of them in the face.

Realising that he had assaulted a Deputy Minister, Mwedziwendira quickly fled the scene, leaving behind four vehicles: a silver BMW 530I (registration number AES 2955), a red VW Beetle (registration number ACK 3638), a blue Mercedes Benz C240 (registration number ADQ 1822), and a silver Mercedes Benz C220 (registration number AFC 5134).

Police Intervention and Drug Discovery

After being beaten, Tongai Mnangagwa promptly reported the incident to the police at ZRP Fife Avenue. Police officers arrived at the scene and towed Mwedziwendira’s vehicles to ZRP Milton Park. During a search of the suspect’s car, the police discovered various illicit drugs. Here is a list of the drugs and items found in some of Mwedziwendira’s vehicles:

2 passports in the name of Antony Mwedziwendira and Takudzwa Sachikonye
