CCC New Leadership Structure: Ncube, Biti & Karenyi-Kore to Rotate
The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has swiftly filled its leadership vacuum following Nelson Chamisa’s departure, announcing a rotational interim leadership structure.
Welshman Ncube Appointed CCC First Acting President
In a bid to maintain stability during this transitional period, the party has appointed Welshman Ncube as the acting president. Ncube will serve in this role for 90 days as part of a rotational interim leadership structure.
Under this arrangement, Tendai Biti will assume the position of acting president after Ncube’s term, followed by Lynette Karenyi-Kore. The leadership will continue to rotate every 90 days until the party holds its congress. These appointments were confirmed by CCC spokesperson Jacob Mafume on Saturday. Mafume explained that the decisions were based on the outcomes of the MDC Congress that took place in Gweru back in 2019. However, he did not disclose the specific date for the upcoming congress.
Furthermore, it has been announced that Lynette Karenyi-Kore will also serve as the leader of the Opposition in Parliament.
Mixed Reactions to CCC New Leadership Structure
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Zimbabweans expressed mixed opinions on the unique leadership arrangement at CCC. Some gave the arrangement a thumbs-up while others criticised it.
Here are some of the comments:
Well done CCC. Time to show Chamisa and his cultists that the leadership haisi yekunanzvwa!
@cassias_jays:
That’s a very good move, Nelson dumped the party and let those who want to lead it do so. The toxicity of Zim politics of donating other people to Zanu pf just because they differ with you doesn’t work, it’s a sign of intolerance,. Let people choose what they want
@chambwe_ree:
That only shows you ,there is still power struggle between them ,regai Chamisa akasiya chaora ichi mai Kore why vazvideredza ndaivada mai vaye
@TawandaMakwe:
Leadership rotation?? So they couldn’t sit down and agree amongst the 3 of them for 1 to be an interim leader until congress? Mahumbwe aya

Chamisa’s Departure and Party Dynamics
The recent appointments come in the wake of Nelson Chamisa’s departure from the CCC, citing infiltration of the party by impostors and saboteurs. His exodus came after the arbitrary recalls of the party’s elected MPs, senators, and councillors by the self-imposed interim Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu. As a result, Zanu-PF was able to secure a two-thirds majority in parliament.
