Harare records cholera case at informal settlement near Longcheng Plaza

HARARE – Harare City Council has confirmed a cholera case at an informal settlement near Longcheng Plaza.

City spokesperson Stan Gama said the patient is a 29-year-old man who lives alone and relies on untreated water from a nearby stream for drinking and other uses. Gama noted that the source of infection is likely local, as the patient has no recent travel history.

“The patient stays here [pointing to the left (picture above)], and the water source he uses is on the right. Let’s be extra careful and avoid drinking untreated water,” he warned.

Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution and adhere to hygiene protocols to prevent further outbreaks.
