Women’s organization focused on enriching lives
By Lovemore Chazingwa in Kadoma
Women from across the city converged for a quarterly empowerment symposium organized by Women of Integrity (WOI) founder and visionary, Regina Chikowore at a local conference centre recently.
The women gathered to impart knowledge and skills on living a righteous life free from vice while upholding biblical virtues.
The event saw professionals from various fields come to the podium to share experiences and motivate those present, and absent, for a better, richer and more comfortable life.
Based in City of Kwekwe and an employee of the local authority, guest of honour, female Pastor, Tapiwa Makore, who is also an accountant by profession, emphasized upon empowerment and self growth.
“I just want to thank the Lord for this wonderful occasion where we’re witnessing women who have been empowered turning them into successful entities. People from this initiative have been enriched. We witness lives are uplifted and changed for the glory of God. We’re humbled by the manner in which they keep growing in all aspects of their lives spiritually, emotionally and financially. As WOI, we yearn for one to be independent, at the same time stay alert to their value in life for them to perform wonderful and mighty deeds.”
Pst. Makore brought to the fore the power of prayer. “What I’ve seen is the power of prayer, integrity and that strength in unity. Let’s utilize prayer to unite us and achieve our goals as a union. We have seen so much potential in people and need prayer to sail through. As we have heard, the youth here are empowered to do mighty things. Businesses are growing as a result of this organization. People are being uplifted which is no mean feat. I want to end by encouraging every women from wherever they are to be part of this organization and its vision. We want to see women being pillars in evangelism, manufacturing, mining, agriculture and other sectors of the economy. We want women to realize their potential,” preached Pst. Makore.
Another feminine voice, a student lawyer at Zimbabwe Institute of Legal Studies, Tendai Mazila, who was there as a motivational speaker had this to share.
“Personally, when I heard about the organization I was instantly motivated. I faced a lot of problems and challenges in life prior. Maybe, it is God’s plan to make me face so many challenges within a short space of time then live comfortably and happily as I do now into the future. Am a happily married, wedded and professional woman. This organization taught me to let go and remain strong. I was struggling with bitterness and mam Chikowore taught me a lot on dusting myself up to move on.”
Elaborating: “When I first went to WOI, I was more interested in the ‘Rising Up’ session. I think I was dead while living. This session covered topics on everything that I was facing in life. The message for all other women out there is that they should come and witness the good that’s coming out of our organization. Find a member from this organization to share with them then, one will realize that which is happening with the lives of other women. I used to be shy but, can now speak in front of gatherings local and international. I now travel to other countries on duty for motivational sessions, which has come as a result of my association with WOI,” said Mazila beaming with a chuckle.
The founder summed up the trajectory for the organization.
“It’s a calling within myself. I think it’s a God given gift. Many women have potential but, they may not realize it or manage to achieve on what they dream of. My purpose is to make women reliaze their talents and explore them. As an organization, we do not discriminate on any grounds. We accommodate all as long as they’re women. We have at least 200 members at the moment. We started this organization early this year and its encouraging to see us growing each passing day.”
In her parting remarks, Regina emphasized, “As long as you’re a woman, maintain integrity and preserve that value. Its a blessing to be a woman. As such, let’s value our existence and give it meaning to motivate and influence others in a positive way.”
In their social media platforms, the group shares daily devotions, motivational messages, the word of God and tips on enriching one’s life.
Health practitioners from Chegutu District Hospital took turns to walk participants through feminine health issues, among them cervical cancer. The health practitioners slotted in a session on gender based violence (GBV).
The empowerment event was meant to coincide with the annual global commemoration of 16 Days of Activism Against GBV held from November 25 to December 10.
