Uncle Impregnates 13-Year-Old Niece After Repeated Rape
A 13-year-old girl is pregnant after she was repeatedly raped by her uncle since March last year.
Her desperate calls for help were ignored with some of her relatives even blocking her moves to expose the abuse she was suffering at the hands of her uncle Last Matazu.
The rape came to light when she visited her mother in South Africa for the end-of-year holidays where she disclosed the abuse.
Her mother took her for medical examinations and they found out that she was pregnant.
She brought her daughter back to Harare where she filed a police report against Matazu.
Matazu is now on the run.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case and said they were appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of Matazu.
“Police are investigating a rape case involving relatives in Southlands Park,” said Insp Chakanza.
“Circumstances are that the accused person is an uncle to the complainant (husband to the complainant’s aunt).
“Sometime in March 2024, the complainant was asleep in her bedroom when the accused entered the room.
“Accused person was reported to have strangled complainant and closed her mouth with a cloth, tore her pants, forcibly pushed her on the bed and raped once without protection.
“After the act, the younger sister of the accused person’s wife came into the room and saw the complainant crying but she told her to keep quiet.
“The complainant told the accused person’s wife what had happened and she told her to keep quiet.
“The complainant was then taken to her grandmother, who stays in Chirumhanzu. Where she narrated her ordeal and the grandmother told her not to report.”
He added:
“In August 2024 and in Southlands, the accused person entered into the spare bedroom where the complainant was asleep.
“Accused again raped the complainant once without protection.
“Complainant informed her relatives again but they reprimanded her and told her not to tell anyone.
“The complainant went to South Africa to visit her mother and that is when her mother suspected that complainant was pregnant.
“Complainant’s mother then took her to the hospital where it was discovered that she was twenty-two weeks pregnant.” H-Metro
