Govt warns against fake scholarships

The Presidential and National Scholarships Department, which is under the Office of the President and Cabinet, has issued a warning to the public regarding misleading scholarship advertisements for 2025 that are circulating on social media.

The Department clarified that any scholarship-related information currently found on social media is unauthorised and misleading.

“We have not yet published any advertisements for the upcoming year,” read the statement.

Legitimate announcements regarding scholarships will only be made through formal channels, including print media and national radio and television stations.

The department reassured potential applicants that all official communications will adhere to Government standards for transparency and accuracy.

Members of the public are encouraged to stay updated through the Department’s official platforms and to submit inquiries through designated channels.

Responses should be directed to the executive drector of the Presidential and National Scholarships via mail or in person, as specified in official announcements. The Herald
