Zimbabwean Man Shoots His Wife In SA, Dumps Body In The Forest & Flees To Zimbabwe

A Zimbabwean man is on the run after allegedly killing his wife and leaving her body in a forest in the Eastern Cape. The tragic series of events unfolded after the couple was reported missing under suspicious circumstances.

According to police, the man, identified as 34-year-old Mr. Dakalo Nemangwele, had borrowed a white Ford Ranger with Limpopo registration plates from a Gauteng resident. Both Nemangwele and his wife, 29, were reported missing on 17 January 2025, under Moroka SAPS.

On 20 January 2025, Musina police received a tip from a tracking company regarding the location of the vehicle, which was found at a residence in Campbell. Inside the vehicle, police discovered bloodstains, empty cartridges, and firearms-related evidence.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Nemangwele had borrowed a significant sum of money and planned to cross into Zimbabwe, reportedly to seek spiritual guidance due to work-related challenges. Witness accounts indicate that he was accompanied by another person when dropping off the vehicle on the night of 17 January.

The chilling discovery of the woman’s body was made on 22 January along the N1 in Kromdraai, Free State. She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The case took another turn when a 24-year-old suspect, believed to be linked to the crime, was arrested on 22 January. The suspect was found in possession of two firearms, including a hunting rifle.

Nemangwele remains at large, and law enforcement authorities suspect he has fled to Zimbabwe. Police have urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact Lieutenant Colonel Shuhani Rendani at 082 414 6683.

This tragedy has sent shockwaves through the community, sparking renewed discussions on domestic violence and the availability of firearms. Law enforcement is intensifying its efforts to apprehend Nemangwele. Authorities believe that public assistance will be critical in bringing him to justice.
