Tapping into Zimbabwe’s Hidden Talent
By Thomas Faranando in Kadoma
Zimbabwe is a country bursting with talent, yet it lacks the platforms and opportunities to nurture and showcase these gifts. This harsh reality is disheartening, especially for young minds outside of Harare who struggle to earn a decent income from their talents. Despite their potential to generate thousands, many are forced to survive on a mere $5 a month.
This issue was recently highlighted by Richa Sharma from India, who witnessed firsthand the abundance of talent in Kadoma on January 18. Her testimony serves as a reminder that we need to take collective action to address this problem. It is imperative that we explore initiatives that promote arts education, create platforms to showcase talent, and establish opportunities for talent development.
Mentorship and training programs, as well as community engagement, are also crucial in helping to nurture and develop the country’s talent. However, our efforts are constrained by limited resources, equipment, finance, and more. It is essential that we receive support from all levels, from grassroots initiatives to government backing.
As a nation, we owe it to ourselves and future generations to tap into our hidden talent and provide the necessary support to help it flourish. We must work together to change the narrative and create a platform that showcases the best of Zimbabwean talent. With collective action and a shared vision, we can unlock the full potential of our country’s talented youth and propel them to greatness.
