Blair toilet collapse kills three children in Norton

CHINHOYI, Zimbabwe — Three children died after a Blair toilet collapsed on them in Norton, Mashonaland West province, police said.

Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson Inspector Ian Kohwera confirmed the incident, which occurred Friday at House No. 8562 in the Marshlands area.

The victims were ages 7, 4, and 3.

“While the three were inside, the toilet collapsed, trapping them,” Kohwera said.

Their screams alerted nearby adults, who rushed to rescue them. The children were taken to a local clinic, where two were pronounced dead on arrival.

The seven-year-old was transferred to Norton Hospital but died later that afternoon at around 3:30 p.m.

“This is an unfortunate incident, and we urge parents to ensure such structures are built on firm ground and follow proper construction procedures to prevent tragedies like this,” Kohwera said. _*– HMetro*_
