Israeli Military Brutality Displaces More Palestinians in Gaza Strip
By Desire Tshuma
The Palestinian Embassy in Zimbabwe condemns the devastating impact of ongoing Israeli military offensives on Palestinian women in the occupied West Bank and Gaza. Palestinian women are forced to flee their homes under the constant threat of Israeli gunfire, face unimaginable suffering, and are denied fundamental rights, including the right to life, housing, and security.
In Gaza, the scale of the tragedy is staggering. Over 12,316 Palestinian women have been martyred while 162,000 have contracted infectious diseases due to the inhumane conditions imposed by the siege,50,000 pregnant women have tragically lost their fetuses, and 2,000 women and girls have been left permanently disabled due to limb amputations.
Ambassador Tamer Almassri emphasizes that the Israeli government’s actions are not only a violation of human rights but also a deliberate attempt to uproot Palestinians from their land. The systematic displacement, forced expulsion, and efforts aimed at the resettlement of Palestinian people are all part of a larger strategy to erase the Palestinian identity. These efforts will ultimately fail, and the Palestinian people will continue their just struggle for an independent state of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital.
The international community has a moral obligation to hold Israel accountable for its genocide crimes and impose sanctions on the occupation state. The world cannot turn a blind eye to the suffering of the Palestinian people, particularly women, who are the most vulnerable in this conflict. It is essential to recognize the state of Palestine and acknowledge the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
The State of Palestine urgently calls upon the international community to Implement targeted sanctions against the occupying state to pressure it to cease its aggression and protect Palestinian lives, facilitate the immediate and unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian women and children, and work towards a just and lasting resolution to the conflict, based on international law and UN resolutions.
