Chitungwiza Woman Takes Her Own Life Over US$60, Leaving Behind 8-Month-Old Baby

In a heartbreaking incident in Chitungwiza, a woman tragically took her own life after a dispute over money, leaving behind an eight-month-old baby.

According to media personality Tafadzwa Shugeta, the woman’s death followed an argument with her husband about their savings, which amounted to US$69. In an interview, the grieving husband shared details of their disagreement, which began when the wife allegedly took money from the savings container. The husband called in her relatives to help resolve the issue, believing they had settled things.

However, the situation took a devastating turn when his wife woke up the next morning and said she wanted to end her life.

“Atongomuka ega achiti arikuda kuzvisungirira. Nyaya yanga yakatogadziriswa yakatopera,” he said.

The man narrated that the woman took money from the place they were keeping it and told her husband that she had changed the place they were keeping the piggy bank. The man then called her relatives to mediate the issue, and to his understanding, the matter was resolved.

The man claimed that her wife locked the door before proceeding to take away her life. The man had gone to the police to report the matter after she locked herself inside the house. When he called home, he was informed that his wife had gone ahead and taken her life.
