HARARE, May 21 (NewsDayLive) -Six people were seriously injured when a vehicle they were travelling in collided with a goods train in Harare early today.
The accident occurred at the Chiremba road- rail crossing point after the driver of a Honda Fit attempted to beat the approaching train, resulting in a collision.
“We continue to urge motorists to exercise extreme caution when approaching level crossings and to stop if there is a train coming,” the National Railways of Zimbabwe said in a statement.
The injured were rushed to hospital were their condition was said to be stable.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred. In recent years, there have been several reported cases of train collisions with vehicles at railway crossing points.
