CCC MP converts CDF funds to worthy use as major roads are refurbished in Epworth North

In response to Epworth North residents’ concerns over the poor state of the road network in the area, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Member of Parliament for Epworth
North Zivai Mhetu has utilised a large chunk of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to improve and refurbish roads in the area.

Residents had requested to have their roads refurbished since they were now in a bad
state, creating transport challenges in some areas in the community as public transport operators were now avoiding the dilapidated roads.

Presenting an in-depth report of how he used the 2024 CDF to Epworth North residents recently at
a consultative meeting, Mhetu lived up to his
pledge to uphold transparency and people-driven governance.

The CDF allocated annually through the national budget under the parliamentary vote is nominally set at US$50 000 per MP.

“I alongside the CDF Committee, came back to you for guidance on how
the CDF should be used. The majority of residents indicated that road
rehabilitation was the highest priority and when the fund was released
this year, totalling ZiG1,3 million, we acted accordingly,” said Mhetu.

The MP said he successfully refurbished a number of roads in the constituency and the refurbished roads are now ready for use, much to the joy of residents.

“With CDF funds we graded and gravelled the road to Muguta Secondary School via Kedish and compacted the surface; we bought tar and patched potholes from Chihota turnoff to Maperera; we also gravelled and
compacted sections at Komboni Yatsva bus stop and Chiremba Shops,” said
honorable Mhetu.

He said in Ward 6 of Epworth North they managed to upgrade the route to Domboremaziso from Wisdom School, whilst in Ward 7 the road from Delport road to the quarry stone area is now complete. The
restructuring of Adelaide sports facility was also successfully achieved.

“We graded the Speed Market and the route from Honor Wisdom School to Mared tuckshop, reaching the landmark Domboremaziso and graveled and compacted 500metres,” he said.

“In Ward 7 we graded and gravelled the road from Corner Auction and
Delport Road to the quarry stone area; we graded the Adelaide sports ground, which is now ready for community sports use, bringing the
total area gravelled and compacted in all the three wards covered 1,5km,” said the (CCC) legislator.

The Epworth north residents made an agreement with their
parliamentary representative to continue with the roads refurbishment exercise in their next allotment of the CDF.

“We discussed how the next Constituency Development Fund should be used, and residents from all three wards unanimously agreed that we continue with road rehabilitation and construction,” said Mhetu.
