Dzivarasekwa woman steals money from husband to spoil her ex

A Dzivaresekwa man claims his wife has been secretly looting their household funds not for herself, but to bankroll her ex-husband’s family.

Stanford Marutsa took his wife, Daisy Masembura, to the Harare Civil Court, accusing her of stealing US$1,500 under the guise of buying a tombstone only to discover it was allegedly for her ex-husband’s late brother.

“I took my responsibility as her husband yet I didn’t know she would plan evil against me,” Marutsa told Magistrate Johanna Mukwesha, visibly emotional in court.

The bombshell dropped when Marutsa stumbled upon WhatsApp messages on Daisy’s phone, including one from her ex-mother-in-law thanking her for the tombstone.

According to H-Metro, Marutsa further alleged that his wife used their money to send her ex’s cousins to school and even sold household items to support her former flame all while their own children struggled.

“I’m emotionally damaged. The most painful thing is that I am working hard for another man while my family is not enjoying,” he fumed.

He added that he was being stalked by unknown men and had heard whispers in their neighbourhood linking his wife to infidelity.

Masembura denied the claims outright, calling them “baseless and hurtful.”

“I’m shocked and saddened by these accusations. My relationship with my current husband is built on trust and I would never do anything to destroy it,” she said, insisting there was no proof of the accusations.

The magistrate sided with Marutsa, granting him a protection order and warning Masembura against further economic abuse.
