Stray Lion Spotted In Chegutu-Residents Warned

The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) has confirmed that a lion has been spotted in Chegutu and has warned residents to be aware of the stray predator.

In a statement said that a lone lion has been spotted along Chakari Road in Chegutu.

“Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority has confirmed a lion sighting along Chakari Road in Chegutu. A reaction team is actively tracking the animal after discovering spoors and hearing roars in the area. We advise the public to exercise caution by avoiding bushy, isolated areas especially near open water sources during early morning and at night.
Livestocks and children should be closely supervised,” Zimparks said.

The authority also advised residents to report any wildlife sighting or unusual activity to Zimparks teams on the ground.

Cases of a lion being sighted around Chegutu, Kadoma, Chakari and surrounding areas have been rare for sometime and the recent news of a lion being sughted has sent shivers in most people around the areas coming face to face with the predator.
