Education Coalition of Zimbabwe (ECOZ) Enhance ICT Excellence in Schools
By Desire Tshuma
ECOZ is implementing the “Digitilise Schools to Transform Education in Zimbabwe” (DigSTEinZ) program, which aims to integrate ICT into learning and teaching.
The ICT Policy Framework operates under a national ICT policy framework that enhances technology’s role in education. The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has its own strategy to mainstream ICT within the education system. ECOZ has been capacitating districts like Zvimba through community engagement programs, transforming the education sector with digitized education.
ECOZ recently hosted a media workshop to equip journalists with skills and ethical frameworks needed to report on ICT in education, promoting responsible ICT reporting.
ECOZ collaborates with government, development partners like Plan International, World Vision, UNICEF, and the private sector to train teachers, raise awareness for ICT, and advocate for inclusive ICT policies.
“Despite progress, we have identified persistent challenges to ICT adoption in education, including limited internet access, inadequate digital infrastructure, and unequal access to devices across socio-economic lines,” said Wadzanai Chitiga, the Programs Manager ECOZ.
“Our efforts aims to bridge the digital divide and ensure that all learners have access to quality education, regardless of their location or background.”
