Viral Tra­b­ab­las Inter­change vendor gets reward

A HARARE woman, who recently made head­lines on social media plat­forms explain­ing how she got lost at the newly con­struc­ted Tra­b­ab­las Inter­change has been hon­oured with den­tures and cash by the con­tractor.

 

Patience Guni was inter­viewed at the inter­change and dis­closed how she was con­fused by inter­twin­ing roads and lost her way in the pro­cess.

 

The video clip went viral turn­ing her into a celebrity overnight.

Also a point of ridicule was her dia­stema she revealed dur­ing the inter­view.

 

Tefoma, the com­pany behind the con­struc­tion of Tra­b­ab­las Inter­change yes­ter­day took renowned dental clini­cian Jimmy Muchemwa so that she gets some den­tures.

 

The move came after the same com­pany gave her US$1 000 to start a busi­ness of her own.

Muchemwa dis­closed that it is going to cost US$1 000 for Guni to have all her full set of teeth restored.

 

“We enjoyed Patience Guni’s nar­ra­tion regard­ing Tra­b­ab­las Inter­change on the national broad­caster. This pro­moted us to trig­ger our Cor­por­ate Social Invest­ment strategy,” said the con­struc­tion com­pany in a state­ment.

 

“First we had to capa­cit­ate her vend­ing busi­ness by giv­ing her US$1000 and bought a phone for her such that she can now use google maps to avoid get­ting lost again at the inter­change.

 

After tak­ing care of that side of things, we thought it will be prudent to get her examined by dent­ists. The pro­cess of put­ting den­tures has star­ted and we hope everything will go accord­ing to plan as she regains her beau­ti­ful smile again.”

 

Guni who sells her wares in Har­are’s cent­ral busi­ness dis­trict said she never knew that her ridicule will turn into for­tunes.

 

“I became a laugh­ing stock, but God knew what was lying ahead. I thank Tefoma Con­struc­tion Com­pany for this gen­er­os­ity. I received money and today a dent­ist is now work­ing on my teeth,” Guni said.

 

Accord­ing to Muchemwa, Guni has only two func­tional teeth in the upper jaw while the lower needs five den­tures.

 

Her upper jaw needs 11 den­tures and also to have her cal­cu­lus cleaned.

 

A total of her eight teeth are set to be removed.

 

Tra­b­ab­las Inter­change, the first of its kind in the coun­try , was offi­cially opened by Pres­id­ent emmer­son Mnan­gagwa recently to ease traffic con­ges­tion at the pop­u­lar Mbudzi round­about. Standard
