Vumbunu brothers arrested in South Africa over US$4 Million Ecobank heist

TWO suspects in the US$4 million Ecobank heist have been arrested in South Africa.

In a statement released on its official X handle, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrest of Abraham Temayi Vumbunu and Elijah Temayi Vumbunu in connection with the US$4 million Ecobank robbery that occurred in Bulawayo on October 3, last year.

The suspects were apprehended on Saturday, July 5, in the Republic of South Africa.

According to Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, due processes of the law are now taking effect for the suspects’ extradition to Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is still, however, pursuing the arrest of the other suspects who are linked to the case. ZBC
