Eat ‘n’ Lick Booted Out Of Equity House For Failing To Pay Rentals; Owes ZEXCOM US$26 800

Harare – Eat ‘n’ Lick Rezende Street branch in Harare, has been booted out from the building for failing to pay rentals since October 2024 by the landlord ZEXCOM.

According to ZEXCOM chairman Mr Crispen Mashayamombe, Eat & Lick had a long-standing lease at Equity House. However dispute arose between the restaurant owners and Equity Properties management over rentals leading to their expulsion. Eat & Lick received an eviction notice from Equity Properties, and vacated the premises on May 15, 2025. The restaurant however owes US$26 800 in rental arrears.

“We have since advised our lawyers to litigate so that we recover our rental arrears from Eat & Lick. It’s a total shame for such a big fast foods restaurant to fail to pay rentals, given that we are located at one of the busiest ranks in the CBD,” Mashayamombe said.

Equity House is one of the Zexcom properties. However there are some conflicts around the property ownership which are taking place. A bogus board purporting to be ZEXCOM has infliltrated the organization and had fraudulently changed company documents which the right ownership discovered and the matter was reported to Police.

ZEXCOM on 26 April 2025 held an Extraordinary General Meeting to elect the board after some internal conflicts and the current board was re-elected for another term of office.
