Mushikashika driver found dead after gruesome murder: All 4 tyres were pierced with a knife and all windows smashed
CHEGUTU – A dark cloud hangs over Chegutu following the discovery of the body of Alex Sinoia, a local driver, in the Kaguvi area of Pfupajena. Sinoia, who was well-known for operating his Honda Fit taxi in the Chegutu Central Business District (CBD), was found dead on Monday in an open space, bearing multiple injuries.
The Mashonaland West Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Ian Kohwera, confirmed the tragic incident, stating that ZRP Pfupajena is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Sinoia’s death. “Police attended the scene together with CID Chegutu and observed that the body had a wound on the left thigh, two deep wounds on left leg, one stab wound on left buttock, a deep cut on right lower limb and a cut on top of left ear,” said Inspector Kohwera.
The scene, according to police reports, painted a grim picture of a violent struggle. Sinoia’s vehicle, a Honda Fit with registration number AEP 5524, which he used as a mushika shika taxi on the Chegutu CBD route, was found approximately 181 metres from his body. The vehicle was severely damaged, with all windows smashed.
“Front windscreen was shattered with one hole on it. All the four tyres were pierced by a sharp object,” Inspector Kohwera detailed, highlighting the extent of the damage to Sinoia’s taxi.
Further examination of the area revealed struggle marks and blood stains approximately 90 metres from the vehicle, suggesting a desperate fight for survival. Adding to the harrowing scene, some of Sinoia’s clothing materials were found scattered on the ground.
The discovery has left the community in shock, with many questioning the motive behind such a brutal act. Sinoia was a familiar face in the Chegutu CBD, providing a vital service to residents and visitors alike. His sudden and violent death has not only robbed his family of a loved one but has also left a void in the local transport sector.
The police have taken Sinoia’s body to Chegutu District Hospital for a postmortem examination, which is expected to provide further insights into the cause of death and the sequence of events leading up to it.
As investigations continue, the police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in identifying and apprehending the suspects involved in this heinous crime. “Police in Mashonaland West is appealing for anyone with information that can assist investigations leading to the arrest of the suspects to approach any nearest police station,” Inspector Kohwera urged.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the nearest police station, as even the smallest detail could prove crucial in bringing the perpetrators to justice and providing closure to Sinoia’s family and the Chegutu community.
The police have assured the public that all information received will be treated with the strictest confidence.
