HE SAID NO TO R20 Billion: Makate vows to continue legal battle for fair compensation from Vodacom
Nkosana Makate, the inventor of Vodacom’s “Please Call Me” service, has vowed to persist in his legal fight until he receives fair compensation for his idea.
The Constitutional Court yesterday overturned a Supreme Court of Appeal ruling that had ordered Vodacom to pay Makate between 5% and 7.5% of the revenue generated from the service over 18 years.
The matter has now been referred back to the Supreme Court of Appeal for reconsideration.
Makate, who has been seeking acknowledgment and compensation since 2008, remains determined to secure a just outcome.
He expressed confidence that the Supreme Court of Appeal will recognize his entitlement to billions of rand for his contribution.
Despite the setback, Makate remains hopeful and committed to his cause.
