Zimbabwean couple based in UK arrested in car smuggling syndicate…caught with £250,000

A Zimbabwean couple based in East London in the UK has been nabbed on allegations of luxury car theft and smuggling operation worth millions of British Pounds.

Detective Sarah Donnelly of the Metropolitan Police’s Vehicle Crime Unit said the case was “one of the largest smuggling networks we’ve disrupted in recent years”.

Tendai Chigova, 41, and wife Melissa Chigova, 35, were arrested following a pre-dawn raid in which police srized £250,000 cash and keys to multiple luxury cars such as BMW, Mercedes Benz and Range Rover.

The stolen cars were allegedly smuggled to West Africa and the Middle East.
