Man from Bikita raped a 12-year old girl until she discharged faeces, then continued raping her again for several hours
MASVINGO – Regional Magistrate Innocent Bepura has sentenced a Bikita man to 16 years in jail after convicting him of raping a minor (12). The man raped the minor until she soiled herself and continued raping her for several hours after that.
The accused (21) raped the minor on May 13, 2025, in Bikita. He held the minor hostage after the rape and forced her to call her grandmother and father to inform them that she was travelling to Mutare to elope with her boyfriend.
Masvingo regional magistrate Bepura described the convict as a heartless individual who shouldn’t be allowed in society.
Accused was convicted after the State led by Godknows Mugondo presented overwhelming evidence. Accused’s clothing, belongings and a sim card he used to call the minor’s father and grandmother were recovered at his homestead. A villager also identified a pair of shoes that he had earlier on tried to buy from accused. The minor positively identified accused as there was light when he abducted her.
Circumstances are that accused met the minor who was in the company of two other juveniles around 6pm. The minors were coming from the grinding mill.
Accused was carrying a sack of shoes which he was selling and he offered to carry the mealie meal that the minors were carrying.
After walking for some time, accused ordered the other two minors to walk away and held the complainant by the neck. The two minors rushed home.
Accused dragged the minor into a bush where he raped her. The complainant defecated and accused continued raping her. He held her victim for several hours. Accused ordered the minor to call her grandmother and father to inform them that she was travelling to Mutare to elope with her boyfriend. Accused was overheard giving the minor instructions.
Complainant managed to escape around midnight and ran home where she narrated her ordeal to her family. Villagers were mobilized to hunt down accused who was found after a brief search.
Villagers arrested and handed him over to the Police.
