Dinha Says Ndoro Had Been Dead For Three Days
Former Zimbabwe international midfielder Edelbert Dinha revealed that Tendai “Fire” Ndoro had been dead for around three days when his body was found at his apartment on Monday, 18 August.
Dinha was among the first to arrive at Ndoro’s residence after learning of his passing.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma, the ex-Orlando Pirates and Ajax midfielder said that the full circumstances surrounding Ndoro’s death were still unclear. He said:
“Eish, my brother, it’s very sad and I’m not feeling good at all right now. I am actually at the scene as we speak. We are still waiting to hear the full story of what happened, but what I can confirm is that we heard about his passing this afternoon and rushed here to check. Apparently, he had already been gone for about three days.
“Some of his uncles and aunts are here as well, having rushed to attend to the situation as soon as they got the news.
“Peter Ndlovu is also here, which is comforting because it shows that we are all standing together to support one of our own during this painful time.
“Sadly, Tendai was alone at the time of his passing, but as I said, we are still waiting for the full details of what really happened.”
Born in Bulawayo, Tendai “Fire” Ndoro rose to prominence with Chicken Inn in the Premier Soccer League, where his lethal eye for goal quickly earned him nationwide recognition.
His talents soon took him to South Africa, first joining Mpumalanga Black Aces before sealing a high-profile move to Orlando Pirates in 2015.
At Pirates, Ndoro scored crucial and memorable goals that cemented his status as one of the PSL’s deadliest strikers.
Following his successful stint in Soweto, Ndoro took his career abroad with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Faisaly, before returning to South Africa with Ajax Cape Town and Highlands Park.
On the international stage, he proudly represented Zimbabwe’s Warriors from 2013 to 2017, including an appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations.
After retiring, Ndoro’s health became a growing concern. In recent years, he faced serious complications, including temporary blindness and a sharp decline in physical condition.
Despite undergoing treatment and speaking optimistically about his recovery earlier this year, Ndoro’s courageous battle tragically came to an end.
