Madagascar: The Permanent Palestinian Representative to the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Ambassador Tamer Almassri welcomes the unequivocal support for the Palestinian people expressed in the Communiqué from the 45th SADC Summit.

The statement from the summit held in Madagascar reflects a shared commitment among SADC member states to justice and human rights, a position that stands as a beacon of hope for Palestinians enduring an ongoing Israeli genocide for over 22 months.

“The SADC Communiqué highlights grave concern over the ongoing attacks on civilians in Palestine (Gaza) which have resulted in the loss of lives, destruction of property, and worsening humanitarian conditions ” Ambassador Almassri said.

The Ambassador expresses profound gratitude for SADC’s solidarity as it sends a powerful message to the Palestinian people that we are not alone and that other nations still care deeply about our plight as this affirmation strengthens our resolve.

Ambassador Almassri emphasizes that the Palestinian people remain steadfast in their struggle against the Israeli occupation, genocide, and forced displacement as Palestinians will continue to fight for their rights and ancestral land.

The death toll in the Gaza Strip has reached 62,004, the majority of whom are women and children, since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in October 2023, with over 13 000 under the rubble.

Within the past 24 hours, 27 Palestinians were killed and 281 injured while attempting to access humanitarian aid. This brings the total number of Palestinian aid seekers to 1,965, with 14,701 injuries recorded.

Hospitals in the Gaza Strip recorded five deaths over the past 24 hours due to famine and malnutrition, including two children, bringing the total number to 263, including 112 children.
