Idah Chiwa Authors A Book ‘Passing Storms’ Which Explains That There Is No Permanent Challenge In Life
By Desire Tshuma
“Passing Storms” is a raw, powerful and deeply-moving memoir that narrates the life of Idah Chiwa, a woman who weathered unimaginable storms from childhood to adulthood, and emerged not just a survivor but as a fierce voice of hope, healing and faith.
Through vivid storytelling, she invites readers into the darkest corners of her past abuse, neglect, rejection, humiliation and betrayal and reveals how she found life in the midst of despair.
“Passing Storms is my life in pages. It is actually from what derives in the atmosphere, storms do appear in the atmosphere unannounced and storms that appear in the atmosphere are better than what happens in our lives. What happens after is on each individual; some become bitter or better or destroyed or stronger, that is how storms affect people though they are passing,” narrates Idah.
In her book Idah explains that everyone goes through challenges in life and those challenges have no gender, age, status, nationality or race. They just come and strike. She writes that challenges come like a storm but they do pass and many challenges emanate from fractured or broken homes, they affect individuals differently.
The author says she got inspired to write the book “Passing Storms” to build holistic individuals, families and communities. In her book she tells her story as someone who is coming from a broken home, who faced physical and sexual abuse, rejection and abandonment. Now that the storm that she encountered is over, she advises people that the storm should not affect one’s purpose or vision because it would be passing.
“Some, prematurely exited this world after succumbing to the Passing Storms. There are also professional storms where one is at work but comes accross storms. They cut across every individual within the society.”
The book is speaking about all the storms that people encounter. It enhances resilience levels and helps people develop coping mechanisms by providing a safe space to heal, grow and to become.
