Man Jailed for R@ping 6-Year Old and Elderly Woman
A 36-year-old Beitbridge man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after the Magistrates’ Court found him guilty of r@ping a six-year-old girl and physically assaulting a 90-year-old woman in a disturbing incident that stunned the community.
On August 24, 2025, Mafhungo Mulaudzi entered a homestead in a village near Beitbridge.
He lured the young girl into the kitchen where he abused her before turning on an elderly woman who was asleep in the same household.
The 90-year-old grandmother managed to fight back, grabbing an axe and forcing Mulaudzi to run away.
Investigations took a breakthrough turn when police recovered a cellphone left behind at the scene.
Images on the device, which had been traded for two chickens, led detectives to the suspect, who was later arrested while hiding in the bush.
The court described Mulaudzi’s actions as cruel and deserving of a lengthy prison term, before handing down the 20-year sentence.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), local leaders have since urged communities to strengthen neighborhood watch programs to safeguard vulnerable members of society.
