DRAMA has rocked the quiet village of Chetumbu in Insiza North, after a man says his marriage has been wrecked after catching his village head red-handed in his bedroom with his wife.
Maqhawe Magama (30) told B-Metro that the incident occurred on 11 July after he intercepted a message from their Sabhuku (village head), Godwishes Sibanda, arranging a meet-up.
“I pretended to be my wife and invited him over,” Magama said. “He walked straight into my bedroom like he owned it. I caught him red-handed and he started apologising immediately. I couldn’t believe my eyes.”
Magama quickly called in neighbours, who witnessed the chaos and escorted Sibanda back to his homestead. They promised a village meeting to resolve the matter — but it never happened.
“We’ve been married four years and used to be happy,” Magama said, fighting back emotion. “Now my wife is distant and keeps saying she found work somewhere. This Sobhuku destroyed my marriage.”
His wife, Siduduzile Moyo, who has a child from a previous relationship, has since threatened to leave.
When this reporter phoned Sibanda for comment, he abruptly hung up and blocked the number.
Villagers are outraged, with one elder saying:
“If a Sabhuku can do this to a man in his own home, what example is he setting for the youth?”
As tempers simmer, Magama’s family remains in turmoil — and the once-respected village head’s reputation now lies in tatters.
