Geza in last minute attempt to ignite protests as Zimbabweans ignore calls for shutdown

MOST cities and towns across the county were this Friday bustling with activity as Zimbabweans ignored calls to participate in protests organised by war veterans Blessed Geza.

In anticipation of violence, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) deployed officers at key spots earmarked for the protests, Africa Unity Square and Robert Mugabe Square, popularly known as Freedom Square.

In his address, a last minute effort to salvage his protest call, Geza bizarrely told Zimbabweans to brave the heavy police presence.

“We are our own liberators. Everyone should play a part to participate at the demonstration for Mnangagwa to vacate office and Zvigananda. We gave you guarantees that the police officers would ensure you safety and that there is no one who will be arrested. If you see police officers do not be afraid it is their job to protect people,” said Geza.

Geza called for a nationwide protest to register displeasure with President Mnangagwa’s government which he accuses of having been captured by a clique of influential businessmen – Wicknell Chivayo, Pedzisai ‘Scott’ Sakupwanya and Kudakwashe Tagwirei.

The ex-combatant is also against the Zanu PF’s push to extend Mnangagwa’s reign beyond his constitutionally stipulated two terms which expire in 2028.

Geza urged citizens to remain in the streets until Mnangagwa resigns.

“No one must leave the streets until Emmerson has resigned. Do not be disheartened our plan is in motion. Things got off to a slow start but we are happy everything is going according to plan,” Geza claimed. _*NewZimbabwe*_
