Bikita Police arrest two women aged 60 years and 30 for allegedly poisoning and killing a 4-year-old girl whose family goats had destroyed seedlings in a garden belonging to one of the women
Goats belonging to Sabina Maziva’s (4) parents destroyed crops in Violet Gamera (60) garden. Gamera was allegedly advised to poison the minor in revenge by Chamunorwa Kwanga (60). Regina Tavengerarwei (30) supplied the rat poison and suspected cotton pesticide.
National Police Spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of Gamera, Kwanga and Tavengerarwei on Sunday in a Press Statement.
Gamera was arrested she implicated Kwanga as the one who advised her to poison the toddler and Tavengerarwei as the supplier of the poison.
Circumstances are that Maziva’s family goats destroyed crops in Gamera’s garden and she decided to take revenge on the family.
Kwanga allegedly advised Gamera to poison the minor child and Tavengerarwei supplied the poison. Gamera allegedly gave the toddler rice laced with rate poison and a cotton pesticide on October 1, 2025.
Sabina began vomiting and was rushed to a local clinic. Her condition deteriorated and she died four days later. Sabina was buried last Wednesday.
It emerged that Sabina may have been poisoned during her burial and the matter was reported to Chief Ziki last Friday. The chief ordered Sabina’s mother to report the matter to the Police.
Investigations were done and Police recovered rat poison and a liquid substance suspected to be a cotton pesticide.
Sabina’s body was exhumed for a postmortem.
