Zimbabweans Rally Against Illicit Sanctions on Anti-Sanctions Day

Harare – In a powerful display of national unity and regional solidarity, Zimbabwe commemorated the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Anti-Sanctions Day yesterday , demanding the unconditional removal of crippling Western sanctions.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa led the proceedings with a stirring national address at the Heritage Village, underscoring Zimbabwe’s resilience and progress despite decades of external economic warfare.
Thousands converged at Heritage Village, citizens from all walks of life united against illegal, unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States of America and European Union allies since the early 2000s. The SADC Secretariat issued a strong regional statement backing Zimbabwe, affirming sanctions violate international law, multilateralism, and United nations Charter principles.
“These sanctions are illegal collective punishment, hurting ordinary Zimbabweans, stifling development, we demand their immediate removal,” declared President Mnangagwa.
Traditional dancers, chimurenga choirs, and war veterans performed amplifying messages of sovereignty, self-reliance, and economic justice
President Mnangagwa implored progressive nations to join to end these counterproductive sanctions blocking Zimbabwe and SADC’s prosperity.
Zimbabwean embassies worldwide engaged host governments rallying global support against unjust sanctions.

Economists cite sanctions cost Zimbabwe upwards of US$150 billion hampering healthcare, education and investment. The United nations special Rapporteur professor Douhan condemned sanctions as hurting human rights calling for unconditional lifting and need for dialogue .
“United we shall prevail , Zimbabwe will rise sanctions will be lifted as Zimbabweans vowed to sustain momentum for sanctions removal, national prosperity, and regional integration,” concluded President Mnangagwa.
