Govt Buys Monomutapa Hotel to House MPs, Cut Costs
The Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, Professor Mthuli Ncube, has announced that the Government has acquired the iconic Monomutapa Hotel in Harare to provide accommodation for Members of Parliament during sittings.
Ncube said the strategic move aims to curb the ballooning costs associated with hotel bookings for lawmakers whenever Parliament is in session.
He added that the acquisition would translate into significant savings for the national purse while ensuring that legislators have convenient and secure accommodation close to Parliament.
“This decision was made to promote efficiency and reduce the burden on public finances.
“By housing Members of Parliament in a government-owned facility, we expect to save millions that would otherwise go to private hotel bookings,” said Ncube.
