Speaking to the businessman cum politician, he said he grew up not celebrating his birthdays and as he grew in business, he thought of not spending his money on white parties, but to celebrate with the children with visual impairments.
“I have to admit, I didn’t grow up celebrating birthdays, and up to this time, I am not really used to celebrating them,” said Daka. “But I have a lot of empathy for children with visual impairments, and I thought to myself, ‘Why not celebrate my birthdays with the learners at Jairos Jiri School for the Blind?’ It is a way for me to give back to the community and to show these children that they are seen and valued and this initiative is close to my heart, and I am excited to share it with the children and make a difference in their lives,” he explained.
“I am inviting everyone to come and join me for an unforgettable afternoon of Zora music, ‘ Sungura’ and Zim dance hall,” added Cossy Rules. “Let us come together to celebrate the abilities of these amasing children and make some unforgettable memories. All are welcome to come and have lunch with us and enjoy the entertainment. Let us make this a special day for the children at Jairos Jiri School for the Blind,” said Daka.
The businessman said this year’s birthday lunch was shaping up to be the biggest and best one yet, and he was excited to share it with all his guests.
“This year, it is going to be bigger and better,” said Cossy. “I expect the children at Jairos Jiri School for the Blind to enjoy my birthday celebration as I will eat and dine with them. It’s a special day, and I want to share it with those who need it most. I am excited to see the smiles on their faces and to celebrate their abilities and contributions,” he said.
During an interview, Daka reflected on his philanthropic journey, saying, “I am not regretting enjoying my birthday with these children. This work began when I was still a small boy. Whenever I was going to town, I would make sure to carry something for the blind people who would be begging in the CBD. Seeing them smile and knowing that I have made a difference in their lives is all the reward I need. It is a blessing to be able to give back to the community, and I am grateful for the opportunity to do so,”he explained.
The yearly event is expected to attract a wide range of guests, including dignitaries, celebrities, the community and other influential individuals who share Cossy Rules’ passion for inclusivity and empowerment. Through this event, Daka is inspiring others and his family to follow in his footsteps and make a positive impact in the lives of persons with disabilities. His selfless act is a testimony to his character and commitment to giving back to the community. As Cossy Rules celebrates another year of life, he is setting an example of kindness, generosity, and compassion that will undoubtedly inspire others to do the same.
