22-Year-Old Man Sentenced To 20 Years For Raping 93-Year-Old Woman

A 22-year-old man has been convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Gwanda Regional Magistrates’ Court for raping a 93-year-old woman.

The court heard that on July 6, 2025, the offender broke into the victim’s bedroom in the Esibomvu area of Esigodini during the night. He pulled the victim from her bed, undressed her, and raped her.

On the same night, the offender committed unlawful entry and theft, prompting villagers to trace his footprints, which ultimately led to his arrest and established his connection to the rape.

In a separate case, the Bulawayo Regional Magistrates’ Court convicted and sentenced a 40-year-old man from Tsholotsho to 20 years in prison for two counts of rape involving his 19-year-old biological daughter.

The offences occurred between June 2022 and August 2025 at two separate locations in Tsholotsho, where the offender raped his daughter. The victim reported the incidents to the police, leading to the offender’s arrest.

The court imposed a sentence of 20 years for each count, to run concurrently.
