Harare Mayor has declared a crackdown vowing to clamp all dirty cars entering Harare CBD

In a move that has sent shockwaves across the city, the Mayor has drawn a new line in the sand. The targets? Poor hygiene and dirty vehicles.

‘Cleanliness is an Investment’

During a recent public address, Mayor Mafume passionately argued that the city’s image is directly tied to its economic future.

“Cleanliness haidi mari, haidi investment,” he stated.

The Mayor explained that for Harare to attract serious international investors, the city must present a clean and orderly image. He warned that the city is prepared to get tough to achieve this goal.

“So the issue of cleanliness is an issue that we are going to take a hard stance on as a city,” he declared.

He stated the city would “make sure that the culture of being clean” is enforced, specifically mentioning the “culture of bathing”
