Zimbabwean Politician Job Sikhala Remanded In Custody After Brief Court Appearance

Pretoria – Zimbabwean opposition politician, 53-year-old Job Sikhala, and his 78-year-old uncle, Alexander Ferrowst Thema, appeared briefly at the Pretoria Magistrates Court.

The pair, who are facing charges of possession of explosives, appeared in court on Monday, 10 November 2025.

The state alleges that on Thursday, 6 November 2025, the two accused were stopped by police while driving along Kgosi Mampuru Street.

When the police searched their car, they found 26 units of blasting cartridges and 15 units of connector cap fusers.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said that the State is currently unsure whether it will oppose bail.

“Investigations in this matter are ongoing, but you must understand that the State does not enroll any matter unless there is prima facie evidence against the accused, as he was found in possession of the explosives.”

The matter was postponed to Thursday, 13 November 2025, for a formal bail application.
