BULAWAYO – Zimbabwe Council of Copyrights (ZICCO) has finalised preparations for its critical elective Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for November 22 in Bulawayo.

ZICCO is national body responsible for collecting and distributing royalties to artists. Invitation has been to all its members to attend the gathering, which will see the election of a new board to lead the organisation for the coming year.

Chief Executive Officer, Tafadzwa Masembura has emphasised the critical importance of member participation in the democratic process.

“We are encouraging all our members to be present to exercise their right to vote and elect their preferred candidates to represent them,” said Masembura. “This AGM is a cornerstone of our organisational integrity. We are committed to the tenants of good governance and democracy, and I assure you that the election will be conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner.”

The AGM is not only a platform for leadership elections but also marks a significant financial event for the artist community. The council has announced that the event will signal the beginning of its second royalty disbursement cycle for the year. Artists in Bulawayo and surrounding areas are particularly encouraged to attend to collect their dues on the spot. Members need only bring their ZICCO membership identities to receive their payments.

The meeting is set to take place at the Family of God Church (FOG) on 107 Jason Moyo Avenue, starting at 0900 hours.

As the countdown to November 22 continues, ZICCO reaffirms its mission of empowering artists through robust copyright protection and ensuring fair royalty distribution.
