Harare, Zimbabwe — Commanding a prime position in the heart of Harare’s central business district, the New Ambassador Hotel, part of the Rainbow Tourism Group, redefines convenient city hospitality through refreshed comfort and contemporary style.
Blending timeless charm with modern updates, this well-known address offers travellers an experience that is both enjoyable and effortlessly practical.
The newly refurbished New Ambassador Hotel has an ambience of understated comfort, with modern interiors, excellent service, and panoramic city views coming together to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Whether for business or leisure, guests enjoy seamless access to Harare’s commercial, cultural, and social hubs.
The Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) reaffirmed its leadership in Zimbabwe’s hospitality sector through a US$500,000 refurbishment of the New Ambassador Hotel this year.
The upgrade is part of RTG’s long-term strategy to enhance the quality of its city-centre hotels while keeping pace with global hospitality trends.
The refurbished hotel caters to both local and international guests, reflecting RTG’s broader vision of redefining the guest experience through modern design, sustainability, and improved convenience. The project encompassed a full transformation of all 72 guest rooms and bathrooms, with a focus on comfort, functionality, and clean contemporary aesthetics. Rooms have been reconfigured to maximise usable space, incorporating modern furnishings, neutral colour palettes, and subtle textured finishes.
The bathrooms have been completely upgraded with new walk-in showers, practical vanities, and low-flow toilets designed to minimise water consumption. Walls and floors have been re-tiled to achieve a fresh and modern look that aligns with international mid-scale hotel standards. The hotel has once again refurbished Press Club for journalists with fast wifi connections as usual journalists are freely accommodated to use the facility.
RTG Chief Executive, Mr Tendai Madziwanyika, said the New Ambassador Hotel upgrade reflects the Group’s long-term vision.
“As RTG, we view infrastructure investment as a strategic lever for growth, differentiation, and long-term value creation,” he said. “The refurbishment of the New Ambassador Hotel is part of a deliberate plan to modernise our assets, uplift our city-centre offering, and contribute to urban renewal in Harare’s CBD.”
“We are not just upgrading hotels; we are elevating the guest journey, improving accessibility, embedding sustainability, and supporting Zimbabwe’s tourism and economic development agenda.”
In line with RTG’s sustainability agenda, the hotel has adopted eco-efficient measures, including LED energy-saving lighting and water-conservation systems. These initiatives reflect the Group’s ongoing commitment to reducing its carbon footprint while enhancing operational efficiency.
Rainbow Tourism Group this year also refurbished its Rainbow Towers Hotel and the adjoining Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) in a decisive move to reposition Zimbabwe as a competitive destination for high-standard stays and conferencing for guests. An amount of US$5.2 million was invested in the refurbishments. RTG also refurbished its Victoria Falls properties that is A’zambezi River Lodge and the Victoria Fall Rainbow and US$380 000 was invested in the project.
This milestone forms part of RTG’s US$26 million capital investment programme over the past five years, aimed at enhancing quality, efficiency, and international appeal across all its properties.
The revitalised facilities reaffirm the Group’s commitment to world-class standards, setting a new benchmark for hospitality and conferencing excellence in the region.
