Bindura man sentenced to 42 years in jail for raping a woman for 4-hours
A recent court ruling has sent shockwaves through the Bindura community after a man was sentenced to 42 years in prison for a horrific crime spree involving a 4-hour rape and armed robbery.
The Bindura Regional Magistrates Court delivered the harsh sentence after the man was found guilty of multiple charges.
The attacks took place in the early hours of August 22, 2025. At around 1 AM, he broke into a tuckshop where a female attendant was sleeping.
The accused demanded money, stealing $244 and a cellphone, before committing a series of sexual assaults against the victim over nearly four hours.
During the attack, the man threatened the woman with a kitchen knife and forced her to lead him to her employer’s home.
The nightmare ended around 4:30 AM when the woman managed to escape.
Police apprehended the suspect a week later on a separate matter.
When officers searched him, they found the stolen cellphone, which the victim confirmed was hers by unlocking it with her personal code.
In court, the magistrate condemned the man’s actions, highlighting his lack of respect for the victim’s dignity.
He received 15 years for each count of rape, plus additional years for robbery, totaling 42 years in prison.
The ruling has been welcomed by the community as a clear message that sexual violence will not be tolerated.
