Woman Seen Beating Child In Viral Video Arrested
Police have confirmed the arrest of a woman caught in a disturbing viral video brutally assaulting a child whose hands and legs were tied.
On Saturday, 22 November, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the suspect, 27-year-old Idah Mushayi, is the child’s biological mother. Said Nyathi:
“The incident occurred on 13th November 2025 at Village 28, Mount Zonzwe, Chief Marange, Odzi.
“The victim, an 11-year-old girl, was reportedly assaulted by the suspect over the alleged theft of USD11.”
Earlier reports suggested that the woman assaulted the child for eating bread at a neighbour’s house.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Nyathi said the ZRP strongly condemns all forms of violence against children and urged parents and guardians to guide and discipline their kids responsibly, without resorting to violence.
