All-night body viewing for national hero Mwazha

The body of revered national hero Archbishop Mamvura Ernest Paul Mwazha will today lie in Guvambwa, with an all-night viewing session scheduled in preparation for his burial tomorrow.

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage announced that the beloved cleric, fondly known as Mutumwa, passed away on November 20 at the age of 107.

Burial will take place in Chirasauta, Chikomba District, following the official ceremonies and religious observances respecting the family’s wishes and church protocols. Close relatives and church leaders will oversee the proceedings.

Mourners are gathering at Number 8, Jefferson Road in Hatfield, Harare, where the Archbishop’s remains were transported from Nyaradzo Funeral Parlour to lie in state. A church service was conducted last night from 7 PM to 10 PM.

Today, the Archbishop’s body will be airlifted to Guvambwa for viewing, beginning at 4 PM and continuing through the night until 6 AM tomorrow.

On Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 8 AM, Archbishop Mamvura Ernest Paul Mwazha will be flown from Guvambwa to Chirasauta Business Centre, his final resting place. Burial proceedings are scheduled to occur from 9 AM to midday.

The public is invited to pay their respects to this distinguished national hero, and the government urges all mourners to follow the religious protocols guiding the ceremony. *_-Afrogazette_*
