Chamisa denies being a Zanu PF enabler, says challenging authoritarianism is not easy
Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) president Nelson Chamisa has hit back at his critics, saying challenging an entrenched dictatorship is far from straightforward.
The remarks came after a social media user claimed it would be “easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle” than for Chamisa to become president of Zimbabwe.
The user, known as Dusko on X, further accused Chamisa of being a Zanu PF enabler who allegedly benefits financially, living in luxury during election campaigns before retreating with substantial sums of money.
In response, Chamisa, often criticised for being perceived as too “soft”, stressed that confronting an authoritarian regime is not child’s play.
On X, he claimed that he bears the scars of battling Zanu PF and that he invests his personal resources out of sacrifice and a commitment to securing a better future through democratic change. Said Chamisa:
“Musangotaura manyepo enhando mhani. Munofumga kuti inyore kurwisa dictatorship?
“Harisi dambe. Tine mavanga murwendo urwu.
‘”Tinotoshandisa maresources out sacrifice and the love of a better future Asi mabatwa nemweya waSmith here wekubeja kuti not in a thousand years ivo vozongobva panyika vasina kusvika chero pazana apo?”
“Stop spreading shallow lies. Do you think fighting a dictatorship is easy? This isn’t a game. We carry scars from this journey. We use our resources out of sacrifice and love for a better future. But have you been possessed by the spirit of Smith — betting that ‘not in a thousand years’ will they fall — only for them to vanish without even reaching a hundred?” *_-Pindula_*
