Sanyati—A new chapter of hope, transformation and community-driven development unfolded at Neuso High School as government officials, church leaders, traditional authorities, educators and villagers gathered to commission a modern boarding facility and a series of groundbreaking infrastructure projects that will dramatically reshape education in the Sanyati district.

The colourful and historic event was graced by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Hon. Prof. Torerai Moyo, while the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon. Also in attendance were ZANU PF Provincial Chairperson Cde Mary Mliswa, traditional chiefs, district school inspectors, headmasters, and several government officials who praised the landmark investment in rural education.

Established in 1982 with only four teachers and 100 pupils, Neuso High School has grown into one of Mashonaland West’s most promising rural institutions. But the commissioning of a 224-bed boarding facility, a 75-seater bus, two NP300 administration vehicles, solar-powered boreholes, and a suite of technological and educational upgrades marked the most significant transformation in its history.

The developments were spearheaded by African Seventh Day Advertist Church and Elder Douglas Kwande, Chairperson of the DCK Group of Companies a proud former learner of the school—described by many as “a son of the soil with a heart of gold.”

In his keynote address, the Guest of Honour, Hon. Prof. Torerai Moyo, praised the development as a shining example of what communities can achieve when government, business and the church unite for a common purpose.

“It is an honour and a privilege to join you today as we commission a remarkable set of developments,a testament to unity, vision, and patriotic commitment,” he said.

“We celebrate not only infrastructure, but the spirit of community, Ubuntu and nation building.”

The Minister highlighted the deep impact of the new boarding facility—set to open fully in January 2026—especially in improving the safety, comfort and academic focus of rural learners.

He further applauded the solar-powered boreholes that enhance WASH standards, empower school agriculture, support school feeding initiatives and elevate the school’s capacity to implement the Heritage-Based Curriculum 5.0.

“These projects speak directly to the aspirations of His Excellency, President Cde Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, whose Vision 2030 envisions modern, well-resourced and inclusive education,” said,Hon Moyo.

“Nyika inovakwa, igotongwa, igonamatirwa nevene vayo—and today we see this philosophy in action.”

Speaker after speaker paid tribute to Elder Kwande, whose contributions have been nothing short of extraordinary.

As the sun set over Neuso, the newly commissioned boarding facility stood proudly—an emblem of what collaboration, patriotism and vision can achieve.

What began in 1982 as a modest rural school now stands ready to become a model institution under the second republic—a center of academic excellence, vocational skills development, digital learning and community empowerment.

The commissioning ceremony was more than an event.
It was the birth of a legacy.

A legacy built by a community for its children.
A legacy proving that indeed —
