Police arrest Chegutu man for rape, robbery

Police in Mashonaland West have confirmed the arrest of a 26-year-old man for rape and robbery at a house in Chegutu.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“The ZRP confirms the arrest of Trymore Phiri (26) in connection with cases of robbery and rape which occurred on December 4, 2025, at a plot in Lismore, Chegutu,” said Nyathi.

“The suspect, along with two accomplices who are still at large, allegedly attacked the complainants at their residence.

“They broke into the house, threatened the occupants with Colombian knives while demanding cash. The suspects stole a Bluetooth speaker, three cellphones and US$80 cash.

“One of the suspects, Trymore Phiri, then entered another room where he found a 19-year-old woman asleep. He woke her up and threatened her with a knife before sexually assaulting her,” said Nyathi. *_-NewZimbabwe_*
