BREAKING: Chimombe, Mpofu judgement out

High Court Justice Pisirayi Kwenda has sentenced Moses Mpofu to an effective 15 years in jail and Mike Chimombe to an effective 12 years, following their conviction for defrauding the State of over US$7 million in the Presidential Goat Pass-On Scheme.

Mpofu was jailed for 22 years, with seven years suspended, three on condition of good behaviour and four on condition of restitution.

Chimombe received 17 years, with five years suspended, three for good behaviour and two tied to restitution.

The two have given notice to appeal both conviction and sentence.
