Two Young Boys Drown While Their Mother Washes Clothes at Binyala Dam
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) reports a heartbreaking incident that occurred on December 8, 2025, where two young boys, aged three and five, drowned while their mother was washing clothes at Binyala Dam in Sibantuibantu Village, Filabusi.
“The ZRP reports a tragic incident which occurred on 08/12/25, in which two male juveniles, aged three and five, drowned at Binyala Dam in Sibantubantu Village, Filabusi.
“The children had accompanied their mother to the dam and went missing while she was washing clothes.
“Villagers conducted a search, and the victims’ bodies were later found submerged in the dam on 09/12/25.
“The Police Sub-Aqua Unit has since retrieved the bodies, which were subsequently taken to Filabusi Hospital for post-mortem examination.”
In a separate tragedy, two sisters drowned while swimming at St Irves Dam in Chinhoyi on Friday.
The victims, Sharmaine (14) and Chipo (13), were with an eight-year-old friend, Shallome Munuka, at the time of the incident.
Sharmaine had just completed her Grade Seven studies at Mhanyame Primary School, achieving excellent results, while Chipo was a Grade Six pupil at Chinhoyi Primary School.
Reports indicate that Sharmaine drowned while attempting to save her younger sister.
