Harare, Zimbabwe – A dramatic scene unfolded in Hatcliff yesterday as a soldier, identified as Bravo, was arrested for intervening in the looting of food hampers distributed by Zanu PF. The incident has sparked outrage and raised questions about the party’s handling of aid meant for vulnerable communities.

Eyewitnesses say the chaos erupted when party officials tried to divert the food aid, meant for distribution to struggling families, for personal gain. Bravo, a soldier, stepped in to block the looting, but was arrested by police.

Zanu PF has condemned the looting, warning it undermines the party’s efforts to support the needy. However, critics argue the party’s distribution methods are flawed, with allegations of corruption and favoritism.” This tendency of looting of food meant for the community is unacceptable and should be stopped, the police should play their part to guard against this,” Zanu pf Hatcliff councillor said.

The incident has sparked concerns about the politicization of food aid in Zimbabwe, with some calling for greater transparency and accountability.
